Looking into Dragon’s Eyes:

Exploring and Processing Change

12-14 June 2026

Looking into Dragon’s Eyes

Many legends depict beautiful and dangerous dragons – some say that by looking into its eyes, a person can gain knowledge and find the answers to their questions. However, many brave souls have failed to achieve this feat – regardless of how confident they were before, they find themselves mesmerised when faced with the dragon, completely at its mercy.

A similar situation can occur when change appears on the horizon of our lives – very often, fear paralyses us, we don’t know what to do, so we remain stuck, and change slowly approaches, finally taking complete control of the situation. In the eyes of our Dragon – Change, we see only a hypnotising fear – of crossing that invisible boundary beyond which our familiar reality ends and the unknown begins.

This can manifest itself in many ways in our lives. We find ourselves stuck in relationships that have long ceased to be a good fit for us, but fear prevents us from either leaving or attempting to rebuild the relationship. We receive a new job offer – but fear forces us to decline because our current one isn’t ‘that’ bad, and who knows whether we’ll cope in a new place. Our partner suggests moving to another city – but how will we cope without family and old friends? Each of us can add at least a few other examples.

During this workshop, we will explore our fears, and try to understand what change means to us and why we fear it so much. We will stand face to face with the dragon and, in its eyes, find the knowledge and strength needed to take the first step beyond our current limitations. Most of the exercises originate from Process-Oriented Psychology (Processwork). This workshop provides a rare opportunity to refresh connection with oneself, gain new perspectives, re-charge batteries and acquire new insights into particular situations.

Details

The workshop starts at 4pm on Friday 12 June with an informal introductory session. We will move on to our main theme after dinner. Welcoming tea is available between 3-4pm and we start promptly at 4pm.

Please arrive between 2-3pm, so you have enough time to settle into your room and have tea. On Friday we will work after dinner. Saturday night is free but there will be an optional outdoor fire circle after dinner. On Sunday we aim to complete before 4pm.

Kiro

Personal growth is my passion – whenever and wherever it takes place. Having been awarded a degree in psychology, a diploma in psychotherapy and an MBA, I work as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and manager for an Edinburgh-based charity, and as a facilitator, therapist and executive business coach within my own practice. As a faculty member of Processwork UK, I participate in the education of future therapists and facilitators studying there. In my free time, I also volunteer for a couple of Edinburgh community groups.

In my own practice called ProcessWalk I love designing and running retreats and workshops. The areas I most frequently work with include: self-esteem, motivation and change, emotions, inner critics, a path of heart, healing the past, relationships, assertiveness, respectful boundaries, and intercultural differences.

I strive to ensure that the insights and guidance which the participants find at these retreats are further strengthened and integrated by contact with the beauty and power of nature.

My other interests include myths and legends, SF&F literature and films, tabletop role-playing games, Japanese art, cuisine and landscapes, hillwalking and swimming.
